Made from sugar, spice, everything nice and Chemical X by the Professor; Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup now use their superpowers and super cuteness to save the world (or at least Townsville) from evil villains and all things icky. I am a fan of the Powerpuff Girls, but I hate the reboot because it looks absolutely nothing like the original. It almost looks like Teen Titans Go 2.0, another bad Cartoon Network show, but I got to be honest, it's not the worst as the Problem Solverz, which I hate, but it's still bad as Teen Titans Go. If you like The Powerpuffs Girls, I recommend you don't watch the reboot. The original is way better than the reboot. The 90s incarnation of 'The Powerpuff Girls' was a childhood favourite, and still holds up well now. And this is not nostalgia talking, there have been quite a few childhood favourites that are now not good at all.<br/><br/>When this reviewer heard that there was going to be a reboot, she wasn't sure whether it would be a good one or a bad one but saw it anyway with an open mind as a huge lifelong fan of animation. Unfortunately, 'The Powerpuff Girls' (2016) is as bad as the other reviewers say.<br/><br/>It's not as bad as 'Johnny Test', 'Breadwinners', 'Problem Solverz' or 'Uncle Grandpa', but it is in the lower end of Cartoon Network's work, a disgrace to the original series and a very poor show on its own merits as well.<br/><br/>The element that comes across as the least bad is the animation. Mind you, it's not great with some stiffness and lack of finesse but there are some nice colours and detail and the character designs are at least okay. That is the one thing that can be said in 'The Powerpuff Girls' favour.<br/><br/>Music is nowhere near as memorable this time round, and sounds very generic and overbearing. The writing ranges from mediocre to appalling, with juvenile dialogue that will insult the younger audience as well as adults, tired recycled jokes, heavy handed moralising that makes one feel preached at and lame, over-obvious and completely unnecessary references.<br/><br/>Story lines are thin, even for the short running time, erratically paced (with parts feeling rushed and others stretched), very contrived and predictable and insultingly stupid. None of the characters are engaging. Hated what was done with the central trio with Blossom being too much of a bossy snob, Buttercup constantly bashing us around the head reminding one that she's a tomboy when it's blatantly obvious already and Bubbles is vapid and sickeningly cute rather than adorable.<br/><br/>Regarding the villains, the original ones have little to do and feel dumbed down while the new villains are stereotypical and a long way from menacing or entertaining. The reason for the omission of Mrs Bellum feels like a hypocritical double standard, seeing as a couple of the characters are far more sexist and offensive than she ever was. The voice acting is often annoying and sometimes don't fit the characters, Blossom and Buttercup particularly feel wrong.<br/><br/>In summary, very poor and only worth a peak out of curiosity value. 2/10 Bethany Cox
